I was born and raised in Michigan. I lived there for 23 years until I migrated down to Texas. I didn't think I had a specific accent. Until I was talking to a customer service representative and she was going on and on about how she loved my "northern " accent. I lived in Texas for close to five years and didn't grow much of an accent.

Five plus years later....

I'm living in Tennessee and I have an accent that pops out of nowhere. One of my coworkers asked where I was from. I told her and she didn't believe me. She said "Well then, you must have lived down here for a very long time". I have picked up a "Sorthern" accent.

Who would have thought....
